Like you, we're monitoring the latest news about COVID-19 (Coronavirus). First and most importantly, this is a serious public health issue and the State of Illinois is taking appropriate actions to reduce the spread of this dangerous virus. We care about your safety and our entire company is engaged and taking decisive action. We monitor guidance from the CDC, WHO, and local health departments to ensure that we have the most up to date information to guide our operations and care for our staff and customers.

Following the mandates issued by Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker on March 12, 2020 regarding the COVID-19 global pandemic, we have suspended all school service calls effective immediately and will continue through at least Monday, March 30th. This suspension may be extended longer, and more communication will follow as more information becomes available. Cassandra Strings local stores will remain open during their normal business hours.

Below you will find some instrument care and cleaning guidelines:

  • Wiping down your instrument after you play with a soft clean cloth is usually sufficient. Wipe off rosin dust from the strings and fingerboard, and anywhere else it has accumulated. Wipe rosin from the bow stick, but not the hair

  • SPECIAL COVID-19 CONCERNS: We recommend that people avoid sharing their instruments. Wash your hands before handling your instrument. THERE IS NO WAY TO SAFELY SANITIZE YOUR INSTRUMENT AT HOME. 


If you have any questions about cleaning your instrument, please bring it to our shop for professional assistance. We are not responsible for damage to any instrument based on these recommendations. Rental customers: Damage due to improper cleaning is not covered by our M&R policy.
